This Milwaukee Cabinet Painting Job Didnโt
Last, And We Were Quickly On The Case
We REFUSE To Leave Our Painting
Customers High And Dry
Imagine paying for a beautiful new cabinet painting project for your Milwaukee homeโs kitchen. You plan it all out, work with your contractor, and set a date. The time comes, and they complete the finishing process, leaving your cabinets looking stunning.
But then, a few weeks pass, and the paint begins to chip. And itโs not just a little chipping โ it goes all the way down to the primer.
Unfortunately, during the COVID-19 pandemic, this happened with one of our customers at Colorwheel Painting.
We were absolutely astonished that this happened and immediately began investigating the cause. Our goal is always absolute customer satisfaction, and something like this is nowhere near acceptable to us.
The Cabinet Painting Project
We were hired to complete a familyโs kitchen cabinet painting project during the pandemic. Our team always follows a meticulous process with each service we offer to ensure the best results.
And this job was no different. With the small exception of following COVID-19 safety protocols.
We removed all the cabinet doors and hardware to ensure an even coat of paint would be applied to every surface. Each door was smoothly sanded before new primer was applied. The primer was then allowed to dry and was put through adhesion scratch tests to ensure proper adhesion was truly obtained.
Then, each was professionally top-coated in one of our workshopโs three spray booths. Every step seemed completely normal.
And when the kitchen was put back together, it had stunning navy blue cabinets.
The Unfortunate Call From The Upset Homeowner
It wasnโt very long after that we heard from the homeowner, and it was definitely not the type of phone call we were expecting. They were very upset (justifiably so) as they explained everything that was going wrong with their cabinets.
While everything looked fabulous when we left their home, it quickly began to go downhill. Their cabinets were ruined in just a few weeks, diminishing the value of their investment.
We were genuinely confused because we followed every step of our regular process. So, we got to work investigating what went wrong.
After a lot of digging, we finally found the culprit. The manufacturer of the Top Coat changed the formula (during COVID-19 due to product shortages). But they didnโt tell anyone they had modified it! THEY were to blame. But of course, a major company like that doesnโt care about a little guy like Colorwheel.
Without this information, we had no way of knowing our work wouldnโt meet its typical high standards. But that didnโt mean we wouldnโt take care of our customer.
We Redid Their Entire Cabinet Painting Project
At Colorwheel Painting, we firmly believe in always doing the right thing for our customers. While this technically wasnโt our mistake, it was definitely not the fault of the homeowner either.
So, we chose to do the only honorable thing โ we came back to repaint their kitchen.
We took a loss on the project to make things right with the homeowner. This meant once again removing every cabinet door and each piece of hardware and sanding everything. Then, we applied a different Top Coat.
While it wasnโt an ideal experience for anyone involved, our customer was satisfied in the end when they received the cabinets they were expecting.
You see, thereโs a line of decision that we exist above, refusing to drop below. Above this line is ownership, accountability, and responsibility. Below it, youโll find blame, excuses, and denial.
We always choose to be responsible when it comes to you and your painting project. You can count on us to deliver and even exceed your expectations.
