Southeast Wisconsin‘s Interior Designer FAQs

Generally, no. We know you carefully consider the right colors for your clients. We know the risk of cross-matching. We understand the implicit risks that come with cross-matching and metamerism. That said, we both know that if your client has a strong brand preference, this may cause a cross-matching scenario if you chose colors outside of it. In this event, we’d prefer to have drawdowns made and a client (or your) sign-off obtained.

We won’t pretend to be a general contractor or jack of all trades, but please ask us. Our owner sits on the board at NARI Milwaukee and has many great contacts. Our rolodex contains dozens of names for all types of contractors you may need.

If we submit our pricing to you, you’re the boss. This is what occurs when we submit a price to a general contractor. We only ask that the markup is within market reason so customers don’t view us as outrageously expensive. We find 15% markup pretty typical, but some go for more.

On the other hand, if you refer us to your client and choose to stay out of the middle, we should look at a commission scenario. Please let us know this on the front end to include this allocation in our total proposal value.

This depends. Preferably 50% upon contract signing and 50% at completion. However, we work with you to make business happen. If that means 10% down, so be it. If it’s 50% upon commencement of a project, that works too. The bottom line is we have cash reserves to be the bank if we need to be.
